Tomar death: Clean chit to 8 people
New Delhi, Mar 12 : The Delhi Police on Tuesday gave clean chit to eight people who were arrested in connection to constable Subash Tomar's death during the anti-rape protests in the national capital New Delhi in December last year.
The Delhi Police also admitted in the Delhi High Court that eight people who were arrested in connection to the constable's death are innocent, reports said.
The hearing on dropping charges against the eight accused will take place on Mar 20.
All the eight people were charged with murder and rioting.
Tomar had died during crowd control at India Gate during anti-rape protests after a 23-year-old paramedical student was brutally assaulted and raped by six men on a moving bus in New Delhi and then thrown off along with her male friend in December last year. The victim succumbed to her injuries at a Singapore hospital on Dec 29.
Police had booked eight people for Tomar's death though some eye witnesses said he died suddenly collapsing during the agitation.
