New Delhi, Mar 6 : The Information and Broadcasting (I and B) Ministry on Wednesday said it has constituted a committee to look into the allegations made by the news presenters represented by the All India Radio Broadcasting Professionals Association (AIRBPA) at state-run AIR FM Gold radio station here.

The committee was constituted on the directions of Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari.

"The Committee has been constituted in the light of a report appearing in certain sections of the Press alleging sexual harassment at FM Gold AIR," the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The committee will be headed by an officer of the level of Joint Secretary along with two other senior lady officers.

"The Committee shall look into the specific allegation made by the Radio Presenters of FM Gold, AIR, represented by AIRBPA," the ministry said.

"The Committee shall look into the issues relating to safety at workplace of women employees working in FM Gold, AIR," it said.

It will submit its report within three days of its constitution.

The AIRBPA filed a complaint with the Delhi Commission for Women on Monday and said news presenters were facing sexual harassment at AIR FM Gold radio station.

"The complaint alleged bias and unprofessional behaviour by the programme executives at the radio station and specifically named FM Gold director-general Leela Dhar Mandloi for 'attacking the self respect' of the women presenters," The Indian Express reported.

The AIRBPA might file a similar complaint with the National Commission for Women.
