Lawyers clash with cops in two cities
Jaipur/Chandigarh, Mar 6 : In two separate incidents, police and lawyers clashed in Chandigarh and Jaipur cities on Wednesday.
In Chandigarh, police allegedly used water cannons and resorted to lathicharge to disperse a group of the protesting Punjab and Haryana High Court lawyers as they clashed with them.
The lawyers were protesting against a First Information Report (FIR) lodged against some advocates on charge of assaulting a policeman last month.
The police have refused to cancel the FIR as demanded by the lawyers.
In Jaipur, a group of protesting lawyers, who are demanding better pay and cheaper homes, clashed with the police outside the Rajasthan Assembly, reports said.
The police allegedly fired teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse the agitating lawyers.
According to reports, 30 lawyers were injured it the clash.
