HC order to deport foreign nationals
Kochi, Mar 5 : The Kerala High Court today directed to release Iranian and Pakistani nationals, who were taken into custody by the Indian navy alleging that they entered the Indian Ocean crossing Indian border.
The Division Bench of the court comprising Mr Justice Pious Kuriakose and Mr Justice P Rajan, while issuing the order to deport the foreign nationals lodged in the Central Jail at Poojappura to their native country, observed that it was quite unfortunate lodging them in jails even after they were acquitted by the Magistrate court.
The court also issued necessary direction to the Centre to take an immediate decision on the ten-member from Pakistan.
The order was issued on a habeas corpus petition by the boat owner that though the Magistrate court acquitted the accused, no action was taken to release them.
