By Hemanta Kumar Nath, Guwahati, Mar 1 : Poachers continued to kill one horned rhinos in Assam's Kaziranga National Park (KNP) with another such killing reported on Thursday.
Poachers killed another rhino in the park on Thursday night and fled with its horn.
According to reports, poachers killed the rhino at Arikati area inside the park under Agoratoli forest range.
"Forest guards found the body on Friday morning, with the horns missing," an official of forest department said.
Poachers killed 13 one horned rhinos in Kaziranga in this year.
Last year, poachers killed 21 rhinos in KNP.
Recently, Assam forest department had deployed 300 armed personnel of Assam Forest Protection Force (AFPF) in Kaziranga to fight against poachers and protect the wild animals in the park.
WWF-India and several organizations are worried over rhino killings in Kaziranga and demanded to the state government, forest department and park authority to take necessary steps to protect the animals.
