US court grants infant custody to grandma
Kolkata, Feb 27 : An 18-month-old boy from India's West Bengal, Indrashish Saha, who had been taken away from his parents in US after he suffered head injuries on August 9 last year and was put into the custody of the child protection organisation, is likely to return home on Wednesday with his grandmother.
Grandmother Pragati Saha, a resident of Gangarampur in North Dinajpur district of West Bengal, has been given the custody of the child.
After suffering head injury last year, Indrashish was admitted to hospital by his parents Pamela and Debashish Saha.
Although, the parents claimed the child had fallen off the bed, the US authorities claimed the injuries were intentionally caused and the boy showed signs of the shaken baby syndrome.
His father then moved court which on Feb 14 ruled that the child's custody would be handed over to the grandparents.
