Kozhikode, Feb 26 : The Railway Budget for the fiscal 2013-14 presented in the Lok Sabha today disappointed Kerala particularly Malabar as it contained no new proposals for the welfare of economically weaker region in the State, the Malabar Chamber of Commerce today claimed.
MCC President Alok Kumar Saboo in a release here said the region anticipated increased train service linking northern states, among others but the Budget presented by Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal totally ignored Malabar.
The proposal to hike freight charges propotional to diesel price hike would further escalate prices of essential commodities in the country.
However, the chamber welcomed proposal to allocate fund for Palakkad Coach Factory and conduct study for the third railway track between Mangalore and Shorannur.
