Iran seeks long lasting ties with India
Mumbai, Feb 26 : Iran today expressed desire to extend its cooperation with India in diverse areas such as oil and gas, IT, biotechnology, nanotechnology and agriculture.
"Iran is keen to make joint investments with India either in Iran or in India in the areas of oil and gas as well as refineries. Huge opportunities exist in these areas and Iran will not spare any efforts to fulfil this. Other important areas of cooperation could be biotechnology, IT, nanotechnology and agriculture. Both India and Iran have made a lot of progress in these areas,' said Dr Ali Ardashir Larijani, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly,Islamic Republic of Iran, while addressing an interactive meeting jointly organised by the All India Association of Industries (AIAI)and MVIRDC at World Trade Centre here.
He said that Iran's strategic, economic and political policies are inclined towards the East and both Iran and India should strive for lasting economic relationship to take advantage of India's buoyant economic growth as also the huge potentials that exist in Iran's present economy.
India could also seek new markets in the regions of Central Asia,Caucasus and Afghanistan by using Iran as an effective gateway, he noted.
