Kozhikode, Feb 25 : An activist of the pro-CPI (M) Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) was found dead near railway track at Payyoli in Kozhikode district of Kerala today.

Police said body of activist Sanal Raj (25), who was questioned by the crime branch in connection with the murder of BJP leader Payyoli Manoj, was found near the track at 24th mile.

Suspecting foul play, the DYFI in the district demanded a comprehensive probe into the death.

Accusing the CB for implicating him in the case, the youth front in a release said Sanal apparently took the extreme step after being mentally tortured by a deputy superintendent of police in connection with the case.

The same officer also attempted to implicate CPI (M) activists in the murder case of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T P Chandrasekharan at Onchiyem in the district.

Sanal was also threatened by activists of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the statement added.
