Elephant kills 6 at Assam-Arunachal border
By Hemanta Kumar Nath, Guwahati, Feb 26 : Six people were killed by a domestic elephant which went on a rampage along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Tuesday, said officials.
Later, forest department of the neighbouring state shot dead the panchyderm, officials said.
According to reports, a domestic elephant went on a rampage at Chimen Chapori Deepa area in Dhemaji district, the border area of Arunachal Pradesh, and killed six people, who were engaged in a road construction.
"The domestic elephant had gone wild and killed the six people," a local villager said.
Later, forest department of Arunachal Pradesh shot dead the elephant.
"We were trying to bring the animal under control, but failed, and forced to shot the panchyderm," a forest official said.
