Andhra man held for US family killing

Hyderabad, Feb 24 : The Andhra Pradesh police have arrested a software engineer named Nerusu Lakshimi Nivas Rao on charges of killing his wife and children in the United States back in 2008.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Andhra Pradesh issued a statement saying the wanted accused Nerusu Lakshimi Nivas Rao native of Gudigunta Village, Vuyyuru Mandal, Krishna District and green card holder of U.S.A. (Novi, Michigan) was arrested by C.I.D. Police on Feb 20.

According to the statement, he is involved in a sensational triple murder case in Novi, Michigan U.S.A. on October 13, 2008 in which "he brutally murdered his 37-year-old wife Nerusu Jayalakshmi, 12-year-old son Siva, and 14-year-old daughter Tejasvi."

Police said the accused used sharp weapons to carry out this offence and first killed his wife, waited for two hours and when his children returned from school he killed them as well. After killing his family members, on the same day he purchased the air ticket to Hyderabad via Frankfurt (Germany) and reached the city on Oct 15, 2008.

The US police came to know about this incident fourteen days after the murder was committed, when the relatives of the accused reported to the police that they have not heard anything from Nerusu and his family members since last two weeks.

Based on US police investigation and report by the District Court, county of Oakland, state of Michigan, USA issued warrant against the accused for first degree murder but by that time, he had already fled the country as revealed during investigation and confirmed by flight data.

Later, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Delhi was informed, which was further communicated the information to CID Hyderabad.

The accused murderer went to US in 1997 and joined an IT company as a software engineer. During examination, he revealed that he invested money in US share market but he faced heavy losses and after which the accused decided to leave for India.

But as his wife refused the proposal, the accused got furious, and killed his wife and two children.

The accused will be produced in a Hyderabad court. Special and top priority messages are being sent to the CBI (Interpol), New Delhi to take up the matter with F.B.I. and US Embassy for the extradition of the accused to U.S.A. where he will be prosecuted for triple murder case.
