Amitabh Bachchan condemns Hyderabad blasts
Mumbai, Feb 22 : Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan on Friday condemned the twin blasts in Hyderabad that claimed at least 16 lives.
Expressing his anguish and condolences in solidarity via social networking site Twitter, he said,"Still reeling under the events of yesterday, and helpless in reaction ... No reaction seems adequate, or of any worth !!"
"Remember terrifying comment from IRA (Irish Republican Army), when they missed an attack on Thatcher (Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher ): "We have to be lucky just once. You..all the time !" said the actor.
Speaking on the ways to combat terrorism, he said, "The effort should be to change mind set of the people rather than keep changing security measures that do not work ..".
Meanwhile, officials confirmed that at least 117 people were injured in the two blasts that ripped through the city.
As the situation rests now, the finger of suspicion is pointed towards the Indian Mujahideen (IM).
Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde earlier in the day visited Hyderabad to review the situation.
"16 people died, 117 were injured in Hyderabad blasts. The government is committed to combat such cowardly attacks," Shinde said while making a statement in the Lok Sabha on Friday after visiting Hyderabad.
He said the government is determined to punish the perpetrators.
