BSF seizes 'suspected' heroin, firearm
Kolkata, Feb 22 : The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday said they have seized 150 gm suspected heroin and one country-made pistol from Jayantipur area of West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.
"In the late night of 21 Feb, 2013, on specific information, BSF troops of 40 Battalion of South Bengal Frontier conducted a special operation in general area of Jayantipur and seized 01 Pistol (Country Made ) and 150 Gms white colour substance suspected to be Heroin kept in 50 Gms three small poly bags," said the BSF in a release.
They said smugglers were trying to smuggle the narcotics to Bangladesh from India.
"However, alertness of BSF men has foiled their attempt," the release said.
The value of the seized narcotics is approximately Rs 75 lakh in the gray market.
A case has been registered under Banga police station for further investigation and prosecution.
