Australia left struggling at 215 for five
Chennai, Feb 22 : Australia were left struggling at 215 for five in the first innings at tea on the first day of the first cricket Test against India at the M.A.Chidambaram Stadium here Friday.
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (5/51) bagged his sixth five-wicket haul as Australia lost way in the second session losing three quick wickets after a healthy 126 for two in the first session,
Quick strikes by Ashwin after lunch saw Australia slumped from 126 for two to 153 for three. Skipper Michael Clarke (45 not out) and debutant Moises Henriques (29 not out) now have a huge mountain to climb.
Ashwin, who got Ed Cowan (29) and Phil Hughes (6) in the morning session, accounted for Shane Watson (28), David Warner (59), and Matthew Wade (12) in the post lunch session.
