Raipur, Feb 19 : The central government has allotted as many as 10 coal blocks in Chhattisgarh since 2008 but none of them have begun production so far, Chief Minister Raman Singh told the state assembly Tuesday.
"Of the 10 coal blocks that were allotted by the ministry of coal since 2008 in Chhattisgarh that accounts for about 17 per cent of the nation's total coal reserves, seven were allotted to the private companies and two were for the public sector.
"One coal block was allotted to a joint venture of a private and public understanding," Singh said in a written reply to a question raised by Congress' Nandkumar Patel.
