BSE Sensex gains on underperformers
Mumbai, Feb 19 : The BSE Sensex rose 0.69 percent on Tuesday as downbeat IT stocks recovered along with other underperformers.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 134.64 points higher at 19,635.72 with 22 of its components closings in the green.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.70 percent or 41.50 points higher at 5,939.70 on Tuesday.
Shares of software services exporters such as TCS and Infosys rose after falling in previous sessions while other defensive stocks picked up as well.
Meanwhile on the New Delhi bullion market, gold fell by Rs 15 to Rs 30,400 per 10 grams while silver also lost Rs 150 to Rs 56,700 per kg.
