BJP should sort out differences among members: Congress
By John Edwards, Panaji, Feb 19 : The Goa Congress has underscored the need to sort out political differences among the BJP-led coalition before the launch of 3rd Lusofonia Games scheduled to be held at Peddem in Bardez taluka this November. The reason being North Goa (Lok Sabha) MP Shripad Naik's sudden resignation from the post of Chairman of the Lusofonia Games' Organizing Committee (OC). The appointment of R Sacheti and V Saxena, involved in the irregularities during the 2010 commonwealth games, as advisors for the Lusofonia Games is said to have bugged the senior BJP leader.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has remained tight-lipped on the development even as he has taken up the chairmanship of the OC.
Congress spokesman Aleixo Reginald Lourenco termed Shripad's step as "vindicated".
"Shripad serves a non-controversial stint in politics. He is a fit politician to handle the situations. The BJP should sort out problems among themselves before it dampens the whole show," the legislator spoke at a press conference Tuesday evening.
The Opposition Party has also demanded immediate inquiry into the appointments of the two outstation officers by the Goa government.
