Unity march of PFI not organised in Kerala

Kannur, Kerala Feb 17 : The Unity march and the public meeting of Popular Front Of India (PFI), as part of their national level Popular Front day was not organised in Kannur district today evening due to the district collector's order issued yesterday.

The district collector Dr Rathan U Kelkar had served a notice
yesterday late evening stating the reason for the denial of permission to organise Unity march here, considering the tense situation prevailing in Kannur district between different factions PFI, SDPI and other political parties for the past many days.

Hundreds of PFI activists led by District secretary C M Naseer
and President K P Thasneem assembled at the Bank road.

Earlier, it was announced that the Unity march would begin from bank road against district administration 's orders.

The public meeting was earlier announced to be held at Stadium corner but the police did not allow the construction of a a pandal (Shed) at the stadium corner.

A large number of police personnel blocked the protest march, and dispersed the mob at 1725 hrs.

Earlier, PFI announced that District secretary of PDP Nizar Methar, INL district secretary Asharaf Puravoor, Dr Surendranath, (Environmentalist), K K Abdul Jabbar-SDPI district secretary,and district leaders would address the public meeting and K H Nazar, State treasurer of PFI would inaugurate the meeting.

PFI highlight theme was 'Together for people's right' which was propagated through pamphlets, posters and public addresses.
