SPS Shipping collaborates with Dohle Daunatic
By Soumyajit Majumder, Kolkata, Feb 16 : Bengal based shipping company SPS Shipping Limited recently announced its entry into the shipping and other shipping related service providing market in the eastern region of the country by an association with International shipping network Dohle Daunatic India, here.
MD, Doehle Daunautic India Daniel Chopra said, "The Company operates more than 400 ships worldwide with highest number of Indian flagged ships. We are present in every region of India, except the east, so we join hands with SPS Group to come here."
"This alliance will create a union between east coast and west coast which will be a benefit to both the regions," said Ravi Dey, MD, SPS Shipping Ltd.
According to officials, the new collaboration will mainly venture into training and development of crew in the initial state with a training institute to be soon opened in Durgapur.
Later it will explore the markets of shipping and shipping related service operations, officials said.
"The new venture will involve in operations like cargo transfers, transloading facilities, barging, and inland waterway operations which are in great demand in the east for transfer of coal to several power plants including NTPC Power plants in Farakka and Bar", said Bipin Vohra, Chairman, SPS Group.
Accepting the dredging problems in the inland waterways, Vohra said,"We are requesting the government to take necessary actions in this matter otherwise we also have a model plan for the government through which we will be bringing in foreign companies to dredge the water ways and a kind of tax will be imposed on the users, but it is yet to be proposed."
The new venture is mainly eyeing the Haldia Port, the deep sea Port at Sagar and the huge inland waterway network here which is connecting to as far as the North Eastern part of India for the operations.
