Hate speech: Owaisi gets bail
Hyderabad, Feb 15 : Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader and Andhra Pradesh MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi on Friday got bail in both cases of delivering hate speeches, and he is likely to walk free for now from the jail.
Owaisi got bail in cases of his hate speeches in the state's Adilabad and Nizamabad districts.
Reports said a sessions court in Adilabad granted conditional bail to Owaisi and asked him to surrender his passport.
He would not be allowed to enter Nirmal town, where he had allegedly made one hate speech.
He was in jail for nearly five weeks now.
Forensic experts had recorded his voice sample earlier.
On Jan 8, the MIM leader was arrested on charges of delivering a purported hate speech against the Hindus in Adilabad last month.
Owaisi faces a number of charges including sedition, waging or attempting to wage war against the state, promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, and for deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings.
