Seven more mercy petitions sent to President
New Delhi, Feb 15 : The Union home ministry has sent seven more mercy petitions to President Pranab Mukherjee for his consideration, said reports.
Since taking charge seven months ago, the President had rejected, among others, the mercy petitions of 26/11 Mumbai attack convict Ajmal Kasab and Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
Both of them have been hanged.
On Wednesday, Mukherjee rejected the mercy petitions of four members of sandalwood smuggler Veerappan's gang.
The Supreme Court had given them the death sentence for being involved in a landmine blast in Karnataka in 1993 that killed 22 policemen.
