By Soumyajit Majumder, Kolkata, Feb 13 : Restaurant Mainland China is organising a Chinese food festival to mark the Chinese New Year.

The the Mainland China outlets in the city have been decorated on the occasion with symbols and motifs depicting millennia of wisdom, legend and mythology. The beat of drums at the entrance adds to the mood.
A star-studed evening at the Ballygunge outlet of the eatery saw guests such as designer Agnimitra Paul accompanied by hes son and actor Arjun Chakroborty, along with wife Nianjana.
"I am a regular at Mainland China," said Agnimitra, adding that she loves their crab toast and cheesy mushroom.
For actor Arjun Chakroborty, it was just another day out in his favourite eatery. "Chinese food is just so much into the blood of Bengalis that they cannot live without it, whether it is chowmein or chilli chicken at a road side shop or other dishes in a five star. We have blended with Chinese tradition so well that now we can't live away from it, starting from feng shui to food," said Arjun.
The festival will be held for a fortnight starting on Wednesday.
Delicacies such as crispy fried spring onion pancakes, stewed chicken with potatoes and butter garlic jasmine fried rice will be cooked by Gao Fuliang and Jia Yuanzhong from China.
A meal for two will cost approximately RS 1,000. The restaurant opens at noon for lunch and at 7.30pm for dinner. --IBNS
