Hard-fought wins for Yuvraj, Sehjnoor, Ashmita

Chandigarh, Feb 12 : Top seed Yuvraj Singh Kooka faced some resistance from Sammar Raina before prevailing over his spirited opponent 5-3, 2-4, 7-3 in the boys under-12 singles pre-quarter-final match in the CLTA-AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today.

Chiraz Singh Dandona of CLTA defeated qualifier CHART trainee Naresh Badgujjar 4-1, 5-4 (4).

In the boys U-16 singles singles CHART trainee Jagdeep Singh beat Sahishnu Sharma 9-2. CLTA trainee Calvin Golmei beat Sagar Bains 9-8 (3). Atul Patel beat Rohit Kumar 9-8 (4). Second seed Param Pun beat Raunaq Marwaha 9-1. Digvijay Partap beat Krishna Rajput 9-3.

In the girls Under-16 singles top seed CLTA trainee Gayatri Kumarahia moved into quarter-finals with an easy victory over Tanisha Indrayan in straight sets 4-0, 4-0. Wild Card Bunty Chongtham defeated Raahat Manrai 9-7.

Sehjnoor Dhillon had to work hard to snuff out the challenge of Bindu Kulhria 4-5 (2), 4-0, 7-3, Ashmita Kaur also registered a hard-fought win over Reet 4-2, 3-5, 7-4 before advancing to the quarter-final round.
