Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 12 : Opposition CPI(I)M-led LDF today staged a walk-out from the State Assembly in protest against the government's denial in discussing an adjournment motion over the shortage of drinking water in Kerala.

Seeking the leave of the House to move the adjournment motion, Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan said the Government was trying to privatise the drinking water supply in the state.

He said the government's move would cause further increase in charges of drinking water in the state.

Deputy Opposition Leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the formation of a new company to supply drinking water would cause the closure of the State Water Resource Department.
