Fresh probe not required in Suryanelli rape case, Govt told
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 12 : The Director General of Prosecution today gave a legal opinion to the Kerala Government that a fresh probe is not required into Suryanelli rape case in which Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P J Kurien was allegedly involved.
Director General of Prosecution T Asif Ali, who is also one of the Executive Members of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), opined that re-probe could not be possible in the case as Supreme Court had already cleared the name of Kurien in the case. There is no new evidence for a fresh probe, he opined.
The reason for a reprobe could not be justified since inconsistent statements were made by the witness in the case, he opined.
