Lucknow, Feb 12 : The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court today asked the Uttar Pradesh government and the Indian Railways to submit all details regarding security arrangements and follow-up actions in the Allahabad stampede incident that claimed lives of 37 Kumbh devotees.
The bench consisting of Justices Umanath Singh and V K Dixit passed this order on a PIL filed by 'We the People', a non-government organisation, general secretary Prince Lenin. The petitioner has sought judicial probe into the stampede.
The court has asked the state government, the Indian Railways and the Kumbh mela committee to furnish all details relating to security measures, meetings and follow-up actions on February 20, the next date of hearing into the case.
On February 10, as many as 36 Kumbh devotees lost their lives, while several others were injured in the stampede at Allahabad railway station. One of the injured succumbed at a hospital today, taking the toll to 37.
