Police register FIR against CRPF for firing in north Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 12 : Jammu and Kashmir police has registered a FIR against CRPF for allegedly opening fire on demonstrators in north Kashmir without any permission from duty magistrate on Sunday.
A teenager was killed and five others were wounded in the firing.
However, official sources said two CRPF personnel were reportedly detained for the firing on demonstrators.
Ubaid Mushtaq died in the S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) after six people were injured when security forces allegedly opened fire to disperse demonstrators at Watergam, protesting against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru on February 9 in Delhi's Tihar jail.
A police officer said the FIR has been registered in police station Dangiwachi in Baramulla against the security forces. However, no arrest has been made so far.
"We have to investigate the incident, record eyewitnesses reports before making any decision to arrest anybody," he said.
Official sources said two CRPF personnel of 92 batallion were detained for firing without any permission from Duty Magistrate.
They said action against two personnel was taken as they did not follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
