New Delhi, Feb 12 : Kalyan Kumar Chakravarty, a 1970 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and former Secretary to the government, has been appointed Chairman of the Lalit Kala Akademi, an official spokesman said today.
Mr Chakravarty, who retired as Secretary to the Government, will hold office till December 31, 2017, when he completes 70 years of age.
He has also served as Member-Secretary, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Director General, National Museum, New Delhi and Vice-Chancellor, National Museum Institute.
Mr Chakravarty was formerly Director, Education, Archaeology and Museums, Commissioner of Archaeology and Museums, and Special Secretary, Culture in the Madhya Pradesh government.
He was also Director, Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya at Bhopal and Principal Secretary/Additional Chief Secretary for Culture, Education, Environment, Forest and Tourism in the Government of Chhattisgarh.
