Afzal's family can offer prayers at his grave: Singh
New Delhi, Feb 12 : Union Home Secretary R K Singh today said Parliament attack convict Afzal GuruaÂEuro™s family can offer prayers at his grave in the Tihar Jail.
Guru, who masterminded the terror attack on Parliament in 2001, was hanged to death on February 9 at Asia's largest prison complex and buried on the jail premises.
Mr Singh also said GuruaÂEuro™s belongings will be handed over to his family.
The announcement from the Centre came in response to a request made by GuruaÂEuro™s family earlier seeking permission to hold a prayer at his grave.
However, GuruaÂEuro™s family this morning said their only demand was that the Centre returned his body to enable them to give him a proper burial.
'We have no other demand...The only thing we want is that Afzal's body be returned to us,' Mohammad Yasin, a cousin of Afzal, said in Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the family has darted off a missive to Tihar jail authorities as well as the Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla,
seeking that Guru's body be handed over to them.
