Naveen lambasts UPA government, hints special package for farmers
Puri, Feb, 12 : Odisha Chief Minister Naaveen Patnaik today lambasted the UPA government for its step motherly attitude towards the state.
Addressing a number of public meetings during his whirlwind tour of four blocks of the district, Mr Patnaik said despite absence of adequate central government assistance, Odisha on its own resources have successfully implemented a number of schemes benefiting farmers, students, old and aged, SC and ST population.
The state government, he said has been working for development of people of all sectors, adding the Congress in the state instead of putting pressure on the UPA government to release funds doing just the opposite.
The chief minister said a special package for the farmers of the state is being worked out which would be in force soon to benefit various categories of farmers.
At Kanas the chief minister distributed cheques five hundred each to 240 members of Self Help Group. He assured the people of Kanas to construct another bridge at Jagulaipadar which would benefit the population of thirty villages of the area.
During his tour Mr Pattnaik inaugurated a flood shelter at Chuprungi and Gadasahi, Janghar bridge over Luna river, Panchayat sammittee office Rajiv Seva center building at Kanas, Kanas- Delang PWD road, a OSWC godown at Nahantara, a fire station and a market building at Kanas bazaar.
This apart the chief minister also laid foundation stones for a 33 KV grid station and a fire station building at Gop block, a bridge over river Daya at Birakishorepur, a flood shelterand a sluice gate at Tinimuhani.
