Jamshedpur, Feb 12 : The Free Legal Aid Committee (FLAC), a prominent non-government organisation working for the eradication of superstitious 'witch killings,' has condemned the murder of a 65-year-old widow in Pichhali village under Potka police station of East Singhbhum district by superstitious villagers suspecting her to be a witch and practitioner of black magic.

"The throat of Kaushalya Sardar, a widow, was cut with a sharp edged weapon late last night when she was sleeping in her house. Her daughter has lodged complaint against two villagers. The matter was being investigated. The culprits would be nabbed soon," police said.

Criticising the incident, FLAC president Premchandra today demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and expressed concern over rising cases of such superstitious killings in Kolhan division of the state in recent times. "The government must take concrete steps to prevent such social crime," he said.
