BSE Sensex snaps losing streak
Mumbai, Feb 12 : The BSE Sensex rose 0.52 percent on Tuesday, after eight consecutive sessions of falls, as prominent underperforming stocks recovered.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 100.47 points higher at 19,561.04 with 18 of its components closing in the green.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.42 percent or 24.65 points higher at 5,922.50 on Tuesday.
Market heavyweights ONGC and Tata Motors gained owing to quarterly results while a contraction in India's country's factory output bolstered hopes of monetary easing by the RBI.
Meanwhile in the New Delhi bullion market, gold declined by Rs 210 to Rs 30,790 per 10 grams while silver also dropped by Rs 1,015 to Rs 57,850 per kg.
