Malayalam poet D Vinaychandran passes away
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 11 : Noted Malayalam poet D Vinaychandran, who was admitted to a private hospital here three days back, died this morning due to multiple organ failure.
He was 67. Vinayachandran, a bachelor, was one of the proponents of modern style of prose in Malayalam poetry. He worked as a Malayalam professor in various colleges for more than 30 years. After retirement, he spent most of his time for literary works.
He won several awards, including the Asan Smaraka Kavitha Puraskaram in 2006, the Kerala Sahithya Academy award in 1992 - for his work titled 'Narakam Oru Premakathayezhuthunnu' (A love story titled hell), the Muscat Kerala Cultural Centre Award, and the Changambuzha Award. He will be cremated at his family house in Kollam at 1200 hrs tomorrow.
