Lifetime Achievement Grammy posthumously awarded to Ravi Shankar
London, Feb. 11 : Sitar legend Pandit Ravi Shankar, has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Grammy award, which was jointly accepted by his two daughters Anoushka and Norah Jones.
Anoushka, a reputed sitarist herself, and Jones, a singer-songwriter, attended the pre-Grammy ceremony at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre to accept the honour bestowed on their father, who passed away on December 11, 2012 at the age of 9, the Daily Mail reported.
Jones said that they knew that the iconic musician was very excited to be receiving this award.
She said that the sister-duo were very happy to accept the award on his behalf.
Anoushka said that it was 60 days ago today that her father had passed away.
She said that just like Jones said it was difficult standing up there receiving the award but was thrilled that her father knew about this award before he passed away.
She added that she wished that the pair weren't standing up receiving the award for him.
