No role in Chandrasekharan Murder: CPM
Kozhikode, Feb 9 : Reiterating that it has no role in the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party Leader T P Chandrasekharan, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) today said State Committee Member M M Mani gave a speech as part of a memorial service at Orkkattery in this district of Kerala on February 6.
Denying RMP's claim that the speech was an admission of guilt and aimed at provocating the cadre, the district committee, in a release, said it was part of 'Jheralatt Andan Memorial' meet organised by the party.
The denial came in the wake of RMP's demand yesterday for an apology from the CPI (M) for the murder.
His speach only suggested how to resist the onslaught on the Communist movement by its detractors, District Secretary T P Ramakrishnan said in the release.
Stating that the party, including the Central Committee, had
several times admitted that it had no role in the May 4, 2012 murder at Vallikkode in the district, he said some party leaders were arrested in connection with the case as part of wider political conspiracy.
By distorting his speech, the RMP was launching an onslaught on the party and Mr Mani, the release said adding the CPI (M) was for maintaining peace and communal harmony in society.
