Bangalore, Feb 8 : Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Assembly today described the 2013-14 budget presented in the lower house by Chief Minsiter Jagadish Shettar as 'aimless and directionless'.
In his reaction to the budget he told reporters here that the budget appeared to be the BJP manifesto for the coming Assembly elections.
He said lower fiscal deficit only indicated that the state was not on development path.
He also criticised the government for announcement of 42 new taluks and said new taluks should be formed only on need basis.
Referring to the separate agriculture budget he said where was a need for a separate budgetwhen the allocations are not properly utilised. There was a lot of difference between allocation, relese and expenditure. If everything was okay where was the need for agricultural production to come down.
He also questioned the claim of thegovernment on enhancing irrigation potential by 800,000 hectares.
He said the government debt which was only Rs 63,000 crore in 2007 had increased to Rs 1,37,000 crore.
