Bangalore, Feb 8 : Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar today presented a Rs 13.18 crore deficit budget for the year 2013-14 in the state Assembly without imposing any additional taxation and also announced a slew of welfare measures with the budget being the last before the state goes for Assembly elections due in May.
Mr Shettar continued the practice of presenting a separate budget for Agriculture providing Rs 22,310 crore for agriculture and allied sectors. According to his proposals the total expenditure of the state for the next fiscal had been budgeted at Rs 117,004.82 crore with the revenue receipts being Rs.115,982.54 crore.
Besides providing some relief in value added tax, in view of the forthcoming assembly elections, he also announced a slew of new welfare and development measures.
