Bimal Chatterjee became West Bengal's new advocte general
Kolkata, Feb 8 : Barrister Bimal Chatterjee became West Bengal's new advocte general after Anindya Mitra put in his papers to Governor M K Narayanan this morning.
Mitra who took over the assignment in May , 2011 when Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee came to power defeating the Left Front ruling the state for over 34 years.
A veteran lawyer Mitra sent his resignation to the Governor and the Chief Minister around 1100, according to his office in Calcutta High Court.
tHE Chief minister immedately called an emergency meeting of
her coilleagues at the Weiters Buildings to go ahead with appointment of Chatterjee as the next advocte general.
Soon after Law Minister Chandira Bhattachrya announced before the reporters at the Writers Buildings that Mr Mitra had resigned and Ms Chatterjee replaced him
Ms Chatterjee, 72, had his schooling at Sarada Charan Arean
Institution in northern part of Kolkata and graduated in Economics at Presidency College , Calcutta University .
After his master degreee in economics at Calcutta University, he joined Lincoln's Inn to study law and got enrolled at the Bar of Calcutta High Court in July, 1971.
