Mumbai, Feb 8 : The BSE Sensex fell 0.49 percent on Friday as disappointing earnings reports sunk prominent shares.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 95.55 points lower at 19,484.77 with 22 of its components closing in the red.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.59 percent or 35.30 points lower at 5,903.50 on Friday.
Weaker-than-expected quarterly reports hit stocks of India's biggest utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra and Mahindra and cement makers Ambuja and ACC.
Meanwhile in the New Delhi bullion market, gold rose Rs 50 to Rs 31,050 per 10 grams while silver lost Rs 200 to Rs 58,600 per kg.
