Moscow college official held over murder contract
Moscow, Feb 8 : The rector of an institute in Moscow has been arrested on suspicion of ordering the murder of a colleague, which was thwarted by police, officials said Thursday.
Ivan Aleksandrov, the 73-year-old rector of the Moscow Institute of Administration and Law, decided to kill a college co-founder over financial disagreements.
He hired a hitman for the purpose for two million rubles (about USD 70,000).
The man supplied the hitman with the intended victim's address, possible location, phone and car licence plate numbers.
Aleksandrov was arrested in a sting operation after handing a 500,000-ruble portion of the payment for the purported killing to an undercover police officer, officials said.
