Kozhikode, Feb 7 : The pro-CPI (M) Left Democratic Front (LDF) in this district of Kerala today threatened to launch agitation against attempt to take over government body of the Kozhikode District Cooperative Bank by the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF).
Talking to reporters here, LDF Convener Mukkam Mohammed and CPI (M) Leader M Mehboob said attempts were being made to conduct election to the governing body of the bank by undemocratic norms.
They claimed that only 374 primary co-operative societies are entitled to voting rights but 200 more UDF backed societies were enlisted in the voters list on the pretext of court order to take over the governing body of the bank.
About 30 primary co-cooperative bodies, which were non-existent, are still in the voters list, they alleged.
Despite its proposal to launch agitational programme by rallying all democratic minded people against the 'fradulent' election, 21 LDF candidates would contest the election, they added.
