Injury forces Hungary's Agnes Szavay to quit tennis

Budapest, Feb 7 : Agnes Szavay, 24, who was placed as high as 13th in the WTA rankings, announced her retirement from tennis due to injury.

Szavay had won five WTA tournaments as a singles player and two in doubles, Hungarian Tennis Association reported on its website.

She has been playing for 10 years but has been unable to regain top form since cracking a vertebra a year ago.

Szavay, who has won WTA tournaments in Palermo (2007), Beijing (2007), Budapest (2009, 2010) and Prague (2010), is considering opening a tennis school.
