Nadal wins first singles after comeback
Santiago, Feb 7 : Former World No.1 Rafael Nadal won his first singles match after a seven-month absence, beating Federico Delbonis of Argentina 6-3, 6-2 in the second round of the Vina Del Mar ATP tournament.
In the quarterfinals, he'll face either compatriot Albert Montanes or Portugal's Joao Sousa.
The Spaniard won his first doubles Tuesday with partner Argentina's Juan Monaco.
The 11-time Grand Slam champion, who was bothered by a lingering knee problem, had not played since June 28 when he was upset in the second round of the Wimbledon.
In another match, France's Guillaume Rufin stunned Argentina's Juan Monaco 7-6 (3), 6-4. It took the 93rd-ranked Frenchman one hour and 32 minutes to dispose of the defending champion who is ranked 12th.
Rufin will take on either Argentina's Carlos Berloq or Colombia's Santiago Giraldo in the quarter-finals.
