Shashi Tharoor to open EPSI Summit
New Delhi, Feb 7 : Education Promotion Society for India, (EPSI), the national body of over 500 higher education institutions, is organizing a 2-day summit here February 14-15 to address the need for transformational leaders, inspiring academics and capable education administrators to meet the ever growing needs of the Indian higher education sector.
Over 200 senior academic leaders from education institutions in fields ranging from humanities, social services and liberal arts to business, engineering, medicine and law, at undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral level, from across India are expected to attend the 2-day summit to be kicked off by Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor.
Speaking about the summit theme, Harivansh Chaturvedi, Alternate President, EPSI and Director, Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), said, "The Indian higher education system has rapidly grown to over 600 universities and 35000 colleges. In the coming 5-7 years the sector is poised to grow at a rapid pace."
The summit will discuss and debate a range of issues to jump start the process of preparing a leadership pipeline by nurturing leaders who could over time step into the role of inspiring principals, deans, capable directors, rigourous registrars and visionary vice chancellors.
Eminent educationists, policy makers, vice chancellors, edu-entrepreneurs and industry leaders are expected to address the summit.
