Hyderabad, Feb 6 : Andhra Pradesh Government will procure 11 lakh MT of raw rice for the Public Distribution System and other schemes during the Kharif Marketing Seasion (KMS) 2012-13.
The decentralised procurement of rice has been taken up by the AP State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited in 7 districts-- Karimnagar, Warangal, Nalgonda, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore and Chittoor-- an official release said here today.
The Food Corporation of India will procure raw rice for the State's PDS in the remaining districts and boiled rice for making it available in other states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The paddy procurement at Minimum Support Price would be done by the Government Agencies-- AP State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited, IKP groups, PACs in all the districts of the State to assure the farmers of MSP for their paddy.
During the KMS 2012-13 (as on February 5, 2013), the State Agencies have procured a quantity of 8,86,875 MTs of paddy from the farmers directly through 1651 purchase centres. All the purchase centres have been equipped with paddy cleaners, winnowing machines, moisture meters, calipers etc.
The millers also purchased 62,25,843 MT of paddy from the farmers at MSP and above for delivering levy and utilisation of the levy free permits.
The FCI has procured a quantity of 20,54,041 MT of rice consisting of 16,76,173 MT of raw rice and 3,77,868 MT of boiled rice.
The AP State Civil Supplies Corporation has procured 4,77,822 MT of raw rice, the release added.
