Raipur, Feb 6 : The Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh has registered a growth of 4.8 percent crude steel production for a 10-month period from April 2012 to January 2013.
Production of hot metal also grew by 3.7 percent and saleable steel by 4.3 percent during the period under review, said a statement by the plant-- the highest profit-making unit of public sector Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL).
The statement said a growth of 17.8 percent was registered in production of total merchant products, including rounds, bars and light structurals over the corresponding period of last fiscal year.
Production of wire rod mill too rose by 10.1 percent.
Several shops and departments of the plant also made records in production and despatches for the period under review.
