New Delhi, Feb 6 (IBNS): Large number of students assembled outside the Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) here and protested against the visit of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Modi is scheduled to address students at the college later on Wednesday.
The protesting students reportedly included members of the All India Students Federation (AISF).
The students shouted slogans against Modi and asked him to go back. They also hold banners and placards against the Gujarat Chief Minister.
Demonstrating against Modi, the students alleged that he was responsible for the infamous Gujarat riots of 2002 left hundreds of Muslims dead, injured and tortured and came as a blot in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule in the state.
The senior BJP leader will speak at the 'Shri Ram Memorial Oration' at SRCC's fifth Business Conclave 2013.
He is likely to address students on issues of business and social development.
According to reports, the students of the college conducted an internal poll and selected Modi as the speaker at the event.
SRCC is a constituent college of the University of Delhi in the national capital New Delhi.
