Sydney, Feb 6 : Australian retail turnover fell 0.2 percent in December 2012, data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Wednesday showed.

It follows a fall of 0.2 percent in November and a fall of 0.1 in October, the ABS said.

The latest ABS retail traded figures showed Australian retail turnover fell to 21.42 billion AU dollars (USD 22.18 billion) in December, reported Xinhua.

Economists had forecast a rise of 0.3 percent for the month.

Economists said the December retail trade figures showed consumers remained cautious with their spending at the end of 2012.
