TESO to hold demo on Lankan Navy attacks on Indian fishermen
Chennai, Feb 4 : A meeting of the Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO) had resolved to hold an agitation at Rameswaram on February 18 and 19 to condemn the continuing attacks on Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.
The TESO, which met here under the leadershship of its Founder M Karunanidhi, who is also the DMK President, passed the resolution at the meeting held here today.
The TESO, at its meeting held on August 12 last had passed a resolution demanding the setting up of a Naval Base in Mandapam naer Rameswaram to stop the attacks by the Lankan Navy on Indian Fishermen.
To condemn the attacks and also to press the Centre to establish the Naval base at Mandapam, the TESO resolved to hold the agitation.
The TESO will also hold a black flag demonstration on Febuary 8 protesting the visit of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse to India for his alleged role in human rights violations against Lankan Tamils during the last phase of war with the LTTE in 2009.
The TESO will also hold a conference to elicit the opinions of national parties in Delhi in the month of March, another resolution said.
