Chennai, Feb 4 : Honouring her promise, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today presented an award of Rs ten lakh to the Mumbai-based CA topper Prema, daughter of an auto rickshaw driver, hailing from Villuppuram district of the state.
The Chief Minister presented a cheque of Rs ten lakhs to her and wished her all success in her future endeavours.
An elated Prema expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister
Jayalalithaa and said she was thankful to her for encouraging and motivating her with the cash prize, an official release said.
The girl's father Jayakumar and her brother were present during the meeting.
Another release said, the Chief Minister also gave appointment orders to the newly-appointed members of Sugarcane Cultivation Area Allocation Committee.
The committee was set up to earmark areas to cultivate sugarcane for the newly-established sugar mills and to make necessary changes with regard to already functioning private mills.
